The practice of Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE), is a technology that relies mainly on locating and designating underground utilities and structures. The purpose of SUE services is to assist Engineers and Architects by mapping as-built/existing underground utility lines to avoid potential issues caused by inaccurate utility records. We have found this to be an invaluable service in preparing accurate construction plans and cost estimations. Change orders and design adjustments during construction due to unexpected utility lines in the project area are significantly less.
National Engineering & Architectural Services Inc.’s staff is skilled in the use of SUE equipment including the Metrotech radio detection utility locator as well as ground-penetrating radar. We conduct each of the four levels of quality of subsurface utility data (Levels A, B, C and D) collected as outlined by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
